William Perkins Black
Birth: Nov. 11, 1842
Death: Jan. 3, 1916

Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Captain in the Union Army in Company K, 37th Illinois Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on March 7, 1862 at Pea Ridge, Arkansas. His citation reads "Singlehandeldly confronted the enemy, firing a rifle at them, and thus checked their advance within 100 yards of the lines." (bio by: Don Morfe)
