Beautiful Life Ended
Miss Rose Bjork Answered Final Summons Tuesday.

Rose Eugenia Bjork, daughter of Supt. and Mrs. Arvid Bjork, passed away at her home in this city Tuesday morning, Feb. 11th, after a lintering illness due to diabetes.
She was born at Commonwealth, Wisconsin, April 9th 1892, coming with her parents to Crystal Falls a few years later. Here she grew to young womanhood and was graduated from the high school in 1910. The following year she entered the university of Michigan to fit herself for the profession of teaching, and in 1914 was graduated from that institution with the degree of Bachelor of Arts.
Miss Bjork taught in the local high school and also at Ironwood, and on account of ill health was obliged to give up teaching.
She has been ill since the fall of 1916. Her family and physicians made a hard and determined fight for her life, and their efforts had been supplemented by their patient in a most wonderful manner, her bravery and cheerfulness, prompted by love for her parents, brothers and sisters passing all bounds. And at times the fight seemed won, but the most loving care and best of medical attention at her home here and at sanatariums were of no avail.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon from the home. Rev. W. B. Coombs, of Iron River, assisted by Rev. Edward Bickford, officiating at the services. The floral offerings were profuse, mute tributes of the esteem and love in which the deceased was held.
The pall bearers were: Herbert Larson, Joe Leonard, William Oliver, John Bauer, William Jacka, C. A. Burkhart.
Thus we laid at rest one who in life ranked always as a lady of culture and refinement, a devoted daughter and a true friend. To the parents, three sisters and three brothers the sympathy of our people goes out in their bereavement. All were with her at the parting excepting Wagoner Clarence A. Bjork who is with the army of occupation in Germany.
Out of town attendants at the funeral were: G. A. Alvar, A. F. Bjork, Hanna Bjork, Mr. and Mrs. Swan Anderson, Supt. and Mrs. C. J. Borchardt and Miss Evelyn Bond of Norway; Mrs. and Mrs. Werner Bjork and Sam Alvar of Iron Mountain; Mrs. Anna S. Schleitweiler and Oscar Schleitweiler, Stambaugh.
Deceased was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority of the University of Michigan and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Crystal Falls chapter.
The Diamond Drill, February 15, 1919.
