Died at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late John and Edna McClain Bishop and was preceded in death by two sisters, Catherine Ross and Frances hannah. Mr. Bishop retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service. He was a Life member of the Petersburg American Legion Post #2, a long time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #882, and the Harly Owners Group H.O.G. He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Ginny) Bishop; daughters Amanda Bishop and Christina (Tina) Taylor; grandchildren, Michael Bishop and Ashleigh Taylor; sister Juanita Faye Stroubs of Falmouth, Kentucky; brothers Cecil Bishop of Hamilton, OH and Kenneth Bishop of Falmouth Kentucky. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2008 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 151 W. Washington Street, Petersburg with Fr. Steven Antes, Celebrant. Interment Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the COlonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
