David Olan Bishop, 48, died surrounded by his family and friends at home Oct. 4, 2011.

He was born in Crisfield, Md., to Doreen M. and the late Charles Bishop. David was a member of Genesis Ministry and worked as the Fleet Shop manager for Sysco Hampton Roads. David was the perfect example of a man who put God first in his life. Everything he did expressed his pure true love for his wife. His family and friends meant the world to him.

Besides his mother, David is survived by his wife, Paula J. Bishop; children, Kelly Thomas (Micah Laurendeau) of Virginia Beach and Bill Thomas (Kelly Saunders) of Wasilla, Ark.; siblings, Vicky Ford (Bunky) of Marion, Md., Steven Bishop (Cathie) of Cordovia, Md., Glen Bishop (Gladys Jane) of Marion and Cindy Dize (Bill) Westover, Md.; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of extended friends.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk by Pastor Bob Groves. The family will visit with friends following the service.
