Abridged Obit. from The New Haven Register; Thursday, August 7, 1980:

HAMDEN - Navy Petty Officer Earl G. Bishop, 26, of 250 Belden Road, died Tuesday at the Maine Medical Center, Maine; the victim of a hit-and-run driver accident in Portland, Maine.
State Police in Brunswick, Maine said Mr. Bishop was sitting on a guard rail on River Road awaiting help after being involved in a car accident when he was struck by a speeding hit-and-run driver.
A resident of Hamden for most of his life, Mr. Bishop was born in New Haven, April 29, 1954, son of Earl D. and Marjorie Santillo Bishop of Hamden. He was a 1973 graduate of Hamden High School and had been im the Navy for the last six years.
Besides his parents, he leaves a sister, Linda Sue Bishop of Hamden, and his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Diehl Bishop of Presque Isle, Maine. He was pre-deceased by his paternal grandfather, Orlin Bishop, and his maternal grandparents, John & Margaret Plunkett Santillo.
