JOANN JANICE ASHLIN
JoAnn Janice Ashlin (nee Bish), 72, of Bridgeton, and formerly of Millville, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, Oct. 5, 2010, at South Jersey Extended Care Nursing Home in Bridgeton.
The wife of the late Byrl Dewey Ashlin Jr., she was born in Punxsutawney, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Blair Leroy Bish and the late Janice Mae Bish (nee Jones).
Mrs. Ashlin worked in the packing department for the former Armstrong Cork, which became Kerr Glass in Millville. She also was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved traveling with her husband, dining out and family gatherings. Her hobbies included walking, running and reading.
Mrs. Ashlin was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Millville.
She is survived by one stepson, Robert W. Ashlin and his wife Barbara of Vineland; one granddaughter, Jenny Lynn Ashlin; two brothers, Charles Blair Bish and his wife Dorothy "Cookie" Bish of Corfu, N.Y., and Donald Edward Bish and his wife Mary "Meme" Catherine Schooley Bish of East Eden, N.Y.; cousin and caretaker, Donna Shinn and her husband Edison of Bridgeton; two aunts, Virginia Ayars of Westminster, Colo., and Dorothy Helen Kostok and her husband William of Bridgeton; one uncle, Robert Bish and his wife Edna of Punxsutawney, Pa.; three cousins, Cheryl Raines and her husband James, Nancy Dilks and her husband Donald and John Biddle; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday morning, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton.
Interment will take place privately at Overlook Cemetery in Bridgeton.
Relatives and friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9 to 10 a.m.
