Flora Grace Baker Dies at Age 103
Gifted artist Flora Grace Baker, who would have celebrated her 104th birthday in April, died Sunday morning (March 1, 1976) at her home, 460 NE 11th St.
Born April 16, 1872, in Redwood Falls, Minn., Mrs. Baker had lived here since 1905. She was the widow of George Baker, who died in 1950. Since that time she had resided with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lester at the 11th Street address.
She was a charter member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, here.
Winner of many awards in the annual Southern Oregon Art Show, Mrs. Baker produced works in varied media, ranging from pine needle craft items through florals and landscapes. Much of her work was of intricate and meticulous design.
She remained active until the day of her death, although her pace had slowed somewhat during the past two years, relatives said. She showed works at the Southern Oregon Art Show for the last time in July 1972, shortly after her 100th birthday.
Private memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Lundberg's L.B. Hall Chapel, with Christian Science reader Theodore Gierak officiating, The family is requesting that no flowers be sent.
Surviving in addition to her daughter, Ethyle, are four sons, Clement and Ben B. Baker, both of Fort Jones, Calif.; Nathan Baker, Concord, Calif.; and Charles R. Baker, Eugene; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
