Richard E. Bird, 78, 700 12th St., died Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Weld County General Hospital. He was a serviceman for the Greeley Gas Co. for more than 20 years. Born Nov. 11, 1896, at Lane, Ill., he came with his parents to Greeley in 1909, living here since. He married Dorothy F. Johannesson on Nov. 24, 1927, in Brighton. Bird was a member of the First Christian Church, of Occidental Lodge No. 20, AF&AM, Colorado Consistory No. 1, El Jebel Shrine, Greeley Lodge No. 809 BPOE, and the Amico Club. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Dixie L.) Keener of Colorado Springs; a brother, Orva "Dod" A. Bird of Greeley, a sister Mrs. George (Sophronia) Dillow of Jacksonville, Fla., and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the Adamson Memorial Chapel. Masonic interment will be conducted by Occidental Lodge No. 20, AF&AM, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends who wish may make contributions to the Memorial Fund of the First Christian Church.
