Charles Alfred Binyon was born in Val Praiso, Indiana, March 31, 1853, and departed this life November 4, 1944, aged 91 years, 7 months and 3 days - the last surviving member of a family of four boys.

He, with his parents, came to Leeds, Kansas, community where his father took a claim in 1870. He grew to manhood in this community and united in marriage with Ida Belle Huffman September 12, 1888. To this union were born three children, Edgar Binyon of Longton, Kansas, Mrs. Verina Wells of Winfield, Kansas, and Clint Binyon of Grenola, Kansas.

The deceased was a strong believer in Christianity, having joined the church at an early age and maintaining the faith throughout his life. He was a devoted father and was unusually agreeable in his children's homes where he lived the last few years of his life.

Charles Binyon leaves to mourn his death his three children, nine grandchildren: Sgt. Carl Binyon, South Pacific, Cpl. Doyle Binyon, Texas, Kernie Binyon, M 3rd Class, South Pacific, Pfc. Cleon Binyon, South Pacific, Mrs. Sula McSpadden, Oakland, Calif., Ruth Wells, Winfield, Kansas, Carol Wells, Winfield, Kansas, and Phyllis Binyon, Grenola, Kansas, many nieces and nephews and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his wife in November 1938.

Funeral services were held from the Belknap church Monday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. C. A. Erdman conducting the services. Arrangements were in charge of the Rarick Mortuary. Interment in the Belknap Cemetery.
