Mrs. Ada R. Bates who resided formerly with a daughter, Mrs. Ernest Dejaiffe of 214 21st Ave., died at 12.15 am today in the Laine Nursing Home, after an extended illness. She was born in Altoona on July 31, 1886, a daughter of Joseph C. and Lorena (Carpenter) Bingman, and married Henry M. Bates, who died in 1951. Surviving are four children, Mrs. Dejaiffe and Joseph B. of Altoona, Mrs. Edward Hahn of New Kensington and C. Kenneth of Emporium; five granchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a sister and brother, Mrs. Lillie White of Tyrone and Harry C. of St. Petersburg, FL. Mrs. Bates was a member of the Fairview Methodist Church and Golden Rule Bible Class, the Mothers Club of the YMCA, and Wolf Chapter, War Mothers. Friends will be received in the Axe Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm tomorrow.
