Irene L. Barron, 85, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at the Keystone Nursing Care Center following an extended illness. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday April 12, 2007 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. Father Brian Shepley will serve as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Joe Behounek Friends may register at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. until service time. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine. A memorial fund has been established.

Irene was born January 12, 1922 at Brooklyn to William and Louise (Prusha) Bina and graduated from the Belle Plaine High School in 1940. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College and taught several years in the Benton County area. On May 10, 1944, she was united in marriage to Harold Barron at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2006.

Irene was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. She loved gardening and caring for her flowers. Irene was an excellent cook and baker. In years past, she enjoyed bowling. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Kucia of Denver, Colorado, and Carole (Ron) Zarlengo of Wheat Ridge, Colorado. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Eric Perry; and three brothers, Lester, Leo and Melvin Bina.
