Reed Ellis Bills, of Idaho Falls, died Dec. 19, 1998, in Idaho Falls.
He was born April 2, 1912, in Pocatello, Idaho, a son of Ren and Rose Bills. He attended school in Pocatello and moved to Idaho Falls when he was eighteen years old, where he was employed at Safeway Stores, which he later managed, being the youngest manager Safeway ever had. He married Leona Brown in 1934. They were divorced in 1949. They had one daughter, Beverly Rose, now Beverly Halladay, who lives in Moab, Utah, with her husband Dick.
He married his present wife, Camila Arriaran C., from Lima, Peru, they have two sons, Rodger Lane of Idaho Falls and Michael Reed of Ketchum, Idaho, and two grandchildren, Asta and Reed Jr., and Beverly's children, Pamela, Scott, and Nicole, also eight great-grandchildren.
He built and operated the first supermarket in Idaho Falls at Cliff and Chamberlain Street, Bill's Market. He later started his own institutional cut meat business. Exclusively among his clients were: Sun Valley, Yellowstone Park, and Jackson Hole. He was an avid sportsman, fisherman, and hunter. Having played professional baseball, he also played and managed baseball teams in Idaho Falls. Little League baseball was his forte. He managed both Little League and softball teams. Reed later became an investor in the stock market. He enjoyed playing the organ and composing music, and was a very talented oil painter, and we have many beautiful paintings by him.
He is also survived by a sister, Darlene Bills of Tilburon, California. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 23, 1998, at 11:00 a.m., in the Idaho Falls LDS 21st Ward Chapel, 1155 E. 1st, with Bishop Frank Murdock officiating. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Idaho Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home in Idaho Falls.
