Maude C. Billings was born to George W Billings (1823-1879) and Margaret J. Jonas (1832-1903), one of three children.

She married Ira S. Bare, son of Isaac A. Bare (1818-1881) and his wife, Lydia Marthena Thrift (1839-1917) on September 9, 1885, in Huntington Co., Indiana.

They had nine children including, Goldie Annis Bare, Carl Bare, Paul C Bare, Wilbur David Bare, Imo Ruth Bare, Winnetta O. Bare, Kay "Kittie" Bare, John Ira Bare, and Hugh Oliver Bare.

She died in Almira Township, Benzie County, Michigan. She was buried in the New Inland Cemetery, Lake Ann, Michigan, with her husband.
