Charles H. Billings, for many years a machinist and resident of this community, passed away from prostate cancer and kidney insufficiencies on Sunday, Oct. 17, 1926, at a hospital in Iowa City, where he had gone from his home in Waterloo, for treatments.

Charles H. Billings had come with his parents to Nashua when he was a baby. Here he spent his childhood and early manhood.

On Dec. 10, 1890, he married Minnie Laberee at Nashua at M. E. Church. They had three sons: George, Charles E. and Floyd. She died Aug. 25, 1904.

In 1907 he went to Malaga, New Mexico. He married Neda Houghton on Oct. 21, 1908. She was a kind mother to his three boys until her death in 1918.

As a widower, he went to live with his son, George who was single and a farm laborer of 26 years of age. Charles, age 57, also worked on the farm there.

On October 21, 1922, he married Mrs. Pearl Oliphant at the office of Probate Judge, W. W. Thompson. He owned a large farm near Mound Valley in Osage Township.

Charles was a church member and worker in the little community church in Malaga where he lived a number of years. After leaving Malaga, he lived in Cherryvale, Kansas until 1924 when he began residing with his family in Waterloo. He was always a strictly honest man in all his dealings and was a good, kind husband and father.

Charles is survived by his wife and three sons: George E., Charles Ernest and Floyd, who all live in Cherryvale, Kansas.

The funeral was at Nashua Methodist Episcopal Church on Oct. 19 with interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
