---Ruby Estelle Billings, age 86, of La Plata, Missouri, passed away on Thursday (January 4, 1996) at the Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center, Kirksville, Missouri.
---Born on June 24, 1909, at Millard, Missouri, she was the daughter of David N. and Viola (Dawdy) Marquith. On May 19, 1929, in Macon County, Missouri, she married Everett A. Billings, who preceded her in death on July 22, 1974.
---Also preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Wilton Marquith; five sisters, Fern Saffell, Hazel Lagle, Helen Roberts, Vera Hall, and Ruth Bragg; and one son, Jay Billings.
---Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, George and Bev Billings of La Plata, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Erma Lea Billings of La Plata, Missouri; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Noel Crawford of La Plata, Missouri and Sue and Donald Miles of Phillipsburg, Kansas; one sister, Marie McGuigan of King City, California; eight-grandchildren, Kimbra Kelley, Kyle Crawford, Krista Cochran, Kathie Chaney, Tenna Herleth, Sheila Meade, Clinton Miles, and Breton Miles; eleven great-grandchildren, Jeb and Grif Cochran, Beau and Brady Crawford, Rayleen and Blythe Miles, Austin, Eden, and Bailey Meade, and Bliss and Slater Kelley; and several nieces and nephews.
---Mrs. Billings received her education at the Millard School. She spent most of her life residing on a farm in Macon County, Missouri, before moving to La Plata, Missouri, where she and her husband operated the City Bakery for a number of years. She was a past member of the Home Circle Club and was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church.
---Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday (January 7, 1996) at the Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri, with the Reverend Lou Wollenberg officiating. Music was provided by Shirley Matticks, organist, and Gene Grear, Soloist. Musical selections were "He Touched Me" and "It Is No Secret".
---Burial was in the La Plata Cemetery. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Mark Kelley, Kyle Crawford, Pat Cochran, Clint Miles, Bret Miles, Ronnie Chaney, Skip Herleth, and Darryl Meade.
