Richville, Dec 7 - Death entered this village Friday morning and took from our midst one of our well known and respected citizens. Mrs. Jessie C. Bigelow passed away after a prolonged illness, nearly all of the past two years having been confined to her bed. THe past few weeks her condition seemed somewhat improved and she was able to sit up for a short period each day. Monday of this week she was taken worse and from that time steadily failed. She was a patient sufferer and at all times manifested a cheery and hopeful spirit. Mrs. Bigelow was 62 years of age. Her maiden name was Miss Jessie Cochrane and she was born at Edwards in 1864. In 1888 she was united in marriage to Elbert Gibelow whose death occurred nine years ago this month. To this union six children were born and are now living to mourn the loss of a mother. They are Mrs. Alta Dunkleberg of Fowler, Miss Mabelle Bigelow, Mrs. Gladys Jenkins, Mrs. Letha Williams of this place; George Bigelow of Utica and James Bigelow, a teacher at East Hampton, Conn. The funeral service was held from the home Sunday afternoon at 2, Rev. Finch of Sandy Creek, assisted by the Rev. F. Bennetts and Rev. D. Rees, officiating. Burial was made at Maple Grove cemetery. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved family, especially for the youngest daughter, Mrs. Williams, whose constant care and attention has been devoted to her mother. Besides her children, Mrs. Bigelow is survived by four half-sisters and two half-brothers, namely: Mrs. E. M. Bigelow of the River road, Mrs. C. G. Lobdell of Dekalb, Mrs. Carl Potter of Cape Vincent, Mrs. Barney Dullea of Massena, George Cross of Gouverneur, Edd Cross of Cape Vincent.
