Robert W. "Bob" Biesanz, 96, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at Friendship Village, on Thursday, September 19, 2013.

Bob was born on July 21, 1917 in Winona, Minnesota, the son of Fred and Marian Kimball Biesanz. He graduated from Washburn High School in Minneapolis and Minneapolis Business College.

Bob served in the Served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He married Elfriede I. Reck May 6, 1944 in Minneapolis, Minn.

He was an owner of Ritter and Rundle Oil Co, Inc. in Waterloo for 24 years and Waterloo Motor Supply Co., Inc for 24 years, retiring in 1987.

Bob was member of First Congregational Church United Church of Christ and a 50 year member of the Waterloo Masonic Lodge and Shrine Club, past President of Waterloo Sertoma Club. He was a founding member and President of the Iowa Automotive Wholesalers Association, past President Iowa Area Baptist Men's Association, past President Waterloo Teachers Concert Association, past board member for Independent Oil Jobbers Association of Iowa, past member of Mason City Kiwanis Club, volunteered at RSVP working with school children, Boy Scouts of America troop leader and a member of Order of the Arrow.

He is survived by: his wife Elfriede of Waterloo; a son Laurence Biesanz of Waterloo; a step-son Dr. Rama (Jhansi) Vemulapalli of Waterloo; a grandson Michael (Carol) Biesanz of Valley Forge, Pennsylvania; two great-grandsons: Matthew and Eric Biesanz of Valley Forge; a step-grandson Ravi (Archana) Vemulapalli of Austin, Texas; and a step-great-granddaughter Anita Vemulapalli of Austin.

He is preceded in death by: brothers: Thomas, Phillip, and James Biesanz.
