Anna Cecilia Bierer

Anna Cecilia (Maher) Bierer passed away peacefully on Feb. 9, 2015 at the Quakertown Center at the age of 91.

She was the wife of the late Wallace "Eddie" Bierer who passed in 2013.

Anna was born on March 4, 1923 in Footedale, Pa. to James and Mary Maher. She was one of seven children of a coal miner and his wife during the depression. She attended and graduated from North Union High School in Uniontown, Pa.

She was employed by Bell Telephone Co. (now Verizon) as a switchboard operator. She met the love of her life, Eddie, in 1946. They were married on Jan. 24, 1947 and would have celebrated their 68th anniversary this past January. When her daughter, Mary Ann, wanted to go to college, she went back to work for Shop Rite in Warminster. She stayed with Shop-Rite (Wakefern Foods) for 20 years before her retirement.

When her husband, Eddie, retired they would spend their summers traveling the United States visiting family and friends. They especially enjoyed the trips to Las Vegas and California Wine Country.

Anna was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and a doting grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Mary Ann Windmassinger, and her favorite son-in-law, Mark Windmassinger Sr., of Quakertown; her son, James of Danboro; her grandson, Mark Jr. SSGT USMC and his wife, Melissa SSGT USMC, of Camp Pendelton, Calif.; her step granddaughter, Annemarie Marino of Perkasie; and and her sons, Casey and Chase. She will also be missed by her newest grandson, Tegen; and her great granddaughter to be, Evelyn Rose. She is also survived by her sister, Genevieve Burd of Madison, Ohio; her sister-in-law, Gayle McKenney and her husband, John, of South Carolina; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie; her brothers, Vince, Tom, James, and Jerry; and by her sister, Esther.

The family would like to thank the staff of the north wing of the Quakertown Center for their care and compassion of Anna during her final days.

Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, Pa. 18940.
