The heavens welcomed home our dear mother, wife, grandma, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Carol Christine Anderson Biddle, on Tuesday, February 12th, 2013. Carol passed into the eternities, surrounded by her loving family. She had courageously battled cancer for the past 9 years, at all times touching us with her humility, patience, faith and love for which she was so well known.
Carol was born on April 5th, 1957 in the Blue Ridge neighborhood of Seattle to Dr. Kirk and Norma Anderson, the youngest of three children. When Carol was ten years old, seven cousins were welcomed into their family and she considers them siblings. She enjoyed a happy childhood and close relationships with all of her brothers and sisters. On an Ingraham High School Ski Club excursion during Spring break in 1973, she met Duncan Biddle, a defensive guard for the rival school, Nathan Hale, who impressed her with his antics on the slopes. She was curious, but he was smitten. Within weeks, their romance blossomed. After being apart for a few years — with Duncan at BYU and then on an LDS mission to Arizona, and Carol studying at Ricks College in Idaho — they were reunited and married for time and all of eternity on May 4th, 1979 in the Salt Lake City Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Carol and Duncan enjoyed a rich family life as they welcomed wonderful children into their growing family: Courtney, Scott, Brooks, Taylor, Sydney and McCall. Her family and her faith were always at the very center of Carol's life. All of her thoughts, words and actions involved her family and their happiness. She loved cuddling with her children and grandchildren on her bed at any hour of the day, and never seemed happier than when she was involved with some project for which family was at the center. As a mother, she made quilts for each child & grandchild. As the children grew, she loved their drawings and transferred their drawings to cloth material to stitch. And as the children grew, she stayed actively involved in their lives at all stages. She had a special gift for making each child feel as if he or she was her favorite.
The James Farmer family reunions in McCall, Idaho were the annual highlight, and Carol would constantly search for ways to extend her time there. She'd often begin preparations for the next year's reunion within hours of the current reunion's close. And she was completely in her element there, soaking in the beauty of the surroundings and the richness of family friendships. A favorite image of Carol is her sitting under an umbrella on a summer day on Davis Beach, book in hand, surrounded by countless loved ones who couldn't get enough of her spirit, infectious sense of humor and gentle kindness.
Carol will be remembered for her hearty laugh, thoughtful and sensitive nature, and her strength in humility. Carol was an active member of the LDS Church, and touched so many people through her unconditional love for others, her faith in Jesus Christ and by the way she quietly and humbly led a life of integrity. She inspired us to be better and to love others more by simply being around her and feeling of her goodness and authenticity.
Carol is survived by her devoted husband, S. Duncan Biddle of Snohomish; her loving children Courtney , Scott (Ashley), Brooks, Taylor, Sydney and McCall; and her grandchildren Kali, Paige, Drew, Brig, Tagg, and Maxx, and a baby girl due in June (to Scott and Ashley); siblings Eric Anderson, Kathy Bobbermin, Jim Farmer, Warren Farmer, Jane Hamm, Tom Farmer, John Farmer and Rick Farmer. Carol is also survived by many in-laws, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who have enriched her life.
