Margaret Hanns Biddle passed away on Monday, July 18, 2011, at the Pine Run Health Center in Doylestown. She was 83.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late George Ellwood Hanns and Florence Hardgrove Hanns.
Marge was a resident of Doylestown for the past six months. She had previously lived in Line Lexington, Pa., Southampton, N.J., and was a Philadelphia resident for more than 50 years.
Marge was a retired Federal Government Services Agency Budget Analyst in Philadelphia.
She was a former member of the Parish of All Saints Episcopal Church in Rhawnhust. She was a soloist and a member of the choir. She was also a soloist at St. Luke and the Epiphany Church in Philadelphia.
Margaret was an excellent singer and performer. Her memorable role was as Momma Morton in 'Chicago' at the Huntingdon Valley Dinner Theater.
Margaret was also a member of the Northeast Oratorio Society, the Mendelssohn Club, and the Harmony Singing Society, all of Philadelphia.
She enjoyed attending the Metropolitan Opera and maintained a subscription to the Walnut Street Theater.
Marge enjoyed traveling. She was an avid QVC shopper. She was a very stylish woman and was a 'Gilded Lily.'
Margaret was the beloved wife of James Bruce Biddle for 52 years before his death in 2001.
She was the devoted mother of Kim Sands (William) of Furlong, Pa., Heidi B. Roth of Philadelphia, and Brenda McCoach (Jeffery) of Line Lexington. She was the loving grandmother of Rachel and Sarah McCoach, Elizabeth and William Sands Jr. She was the sister of Florence Thorpe of Newtown and the late George Ellwood Hanns Jr. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday, July 22, 2011 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Memorial Church of St. Luke, 1946 Welsh Road, Philadelphia, PA. Her service will follow at 10:30 a.m. The interment will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Masonic Charities, One Masonic Dr., Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
