Born in Schenectady, N.Y., on April 15, 1968, she was the daughter of the late Allison "Al" G. and Elizabeth "Betty" A. (née: Clements) Beverly. She was educated in the Schenectady school system, graduating from Linton High School. She later went on to obtain her associates degree in paralegal studies from Schenectady County Community College. Melissa worked part time for the City of Schenectady Parks Department and was employed by the state of New York as an information retrieval file clerk.
Married on Oct. 19, 1991, Melissa and her husband, Donald, made their home in Bethlehem, Conn., where they and their family have lived for more than 20 years. While living in Connecticut, Melissa enjoyed working for a short time as an X-ray file clerk at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. She later dedicated her life to caring for home and family.
Affectionately known among her close friends as "The Mayor of Kasson Grove," Melissa was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She knew how to be present and steadfast and genuinely appreciated the people in her life. Her keen wit, dry sense of humor and infectious laugh were among the many things that made her Melissa. Her greatest joy was in loving her husband and daughter.
Her many interests included all sports, specifically bowling, baseball, auto racing and recently football.
Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Donald; her beloved daughter, Ashley; her brother, Edward (Theresa) Beverly of Schenectady, N.Y.; two nephews, Kyle and Alexander Beverly of Schenectady, N.Y.; her mother-in-law, Mary Benedetto of Connecticut; her aunts; and many close neighbors and friends.
