BULLHEAD CITY, ARIZ. – Virgie (Beverly) Atwood, formerly of Farrell, Pa., passed away in the early hours of April 16.
She was born June 8, 1944, in Youngstown, to the late William Beverly Sr. and Margaret (Carlock) Beverly.
She was educated in the Youngstown School District.
She worked in the Hospitality Care Center and Overlook Nursing Home as a nurses aide. In her spare time, Virgie enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and rooting for her beloved San Francisco 49ers.
Virgie leaves to cherish her memory, a brother, William Beverly Jr. of Youngstown; two sisters, Geneva Stanley and Carrie Ashby, both of Las Vegas; two sons Robert E. Atwood of Allentown, Pa., and Leonard S. Byrd of Pittsburgh; a companion, Terry Chase of Bullhead City; four grandchildren; and many friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Simmon Atwood Jr., whom she married Feb. 26, 1965; and two sisters, Mary Beverly and Anna Honesty.
A special thanks to Terry Chase and his family, who were with Virgie in her time of need. Thank you to all for the well wishes. She will be sorely missed by all.
Family and friends will be received Saturday at 2 p.m. at the home of her mother, Margaret Beverly, (address removed) in Boardman.
