Bernard L. Bever, 72, of 2214 West CR 475S, Connersville died Sunday, December 28, 2003, at Heritage House of Connersville where he had been a patient for 2 weeks.

He was born at home in Orange Township, the oldest of four children of Clifford and Stella Wildridge Bever.

In 1949, he graduated from Orange High School and later joined the U.S. military where he served as a supply clerk during the Korean War. He was a member of the AMVETS, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles and Moose Lodges, all of Connersville. He owned and operated a farm in Columbia Township and had been employed at Connersville Casket Company and Design and Manufacturing, both of Connersville. Until 1999, he had worked at the car wash on 30th Street in Connersville. He was an avid coon hunter and was awarded numerous trophies. He later was a judge at several tournaments including the competition at Autumn Oaks. In his leisure time, he enjoyed the wildlife on his farm, especially the birds and deer.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Elizabeth Ann Reisert of Connersville and Bernadine K. Voris and her husband, Benji of Laurel; his Mother: Stella Bever of the Orange community; 2 sisters: Clara Anne Vance of Houston, TX and Helen Smith and her husband, Witt of Mooresville; a brother and his wife: William and Mary Ellen Bever of Orange; 4 grandchildren: Clayton J. Reisert, Stella Jeneé Reisert, Catherine L. Reisert, and Clinton E. Reisert, all of Connersville; 1 great-grandson, Nicholas; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his Father and a nephew, Brian K. Bever.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville.

Interment will follow in Orange Cemetery, Fayette County.

Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11 to 1 p.m. Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made at the funeral home to the Fayette County Diabetes Support Group or to the American Diabetes Association.
