Glen B. Bevard, 77, of Keokuk, a retired employee of General Mills Co., died at 7:45 p.m. Tuedsday (May 17, 1994) in Keokuk Area Hospital. Born March 27, 1917, in Williamson, Iowa, Mr. Bevard was a son of Thomas M. and Ruth Smith Bevard. He had lived in Keokuk most of his life and was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. He was employed for many years by General Mills and at the time of his retirement was a supervisor in the shipping and receiving department. For many years he owned and operated the Keosippi Lapidary Shop. A member of First Christian Church, he had served as union president at General Mills for several years. On Nov. 17, 1947, he married Bertha Fox in Hannibal, Mo. She survives. Survivors also include four sons, James, Ronald and Larry, all of Keoku, and William of Fulton, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a nephew. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Leo. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in DeJong's Funeral Home by the Rev. William Mitchell. Burial with military rites will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 1-9 p.m. today with family meeting friends 7-9 tonight in the funeral home.
