Dorothy Jane Betts, 88, loving mother, grandmother and sister, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2013. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Wednesday in Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Jane was born in Winchester, Va., to Theodore and Dessie Johnson Jakimier on Aug. 19, 1925. Jane retired from the national office of Boy Scouts of America. Jane was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ted Jakimier; and beloved dog, Muffy. Survivors: Daughter, Beckie Bright and husband, Steve; son, Donald Betts and wife, Carol; brother, Bev Jakimier and wife, Sally; grandchildren, Justin Bright, Whitney Bright and Lesley Shepherd and husband, Vincent; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
