Alice L. Bettis 80, of Cheboygan, left this world peacefully to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. She died at home with her family around her. Alice was born March 26, 1931 in Flint, the daughter of Charles R. And Olive E. (Robinson) Bergey. On May 16, 1949 in Vanderbilt, she married Robert L. Bettis, and together they raised four children at Mullett Lake Village. She was a stay at home mom and outstanding grandmother, an avid knitter, knitting many sweaters, and over 100 afghans' for her family and friends, and was very active member in TOPS, MI, 692 and 1026 in Cheboygan, where she served as weight recorder for many years. She graduated a KOPS, and was chapter queen of TOPS MI 692. She attended the Evangelical Covenant Church, and enjoyed gardening, canning, and reading. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Surviving are her daughter, Betty (Carl) Lemorie of Cheboygan, sons Ralph (Khristie) Bettis of Indian River, Robert (Gloria) Bettis of Cheboygan, and Robert (Paula) Vieau of Battle Creek, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, a brother, Jack Bergey of Irons, daughter in law Debbie Bettis, three sisters in law, Audrey Valot of Cheboygan, and Joanne Bettis and Neva Gendion, both of Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert in 2005, a son, Lyle Bettis, and granddaughters, Rebecca Lynn and Whitney Sue.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 11:00 am, with visitation beginning at 10:00 am, at the Evangelical Covenant Church. Rev. Carl Franzon and Art Woollard will officiate, burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Inverness Township, with her grandchildren Ralph, Jon, Albert, and Anthony Bettis, Angela Wichlacz, and special friend Linda Woollard, serving as pallbearers. A luncheon will follow at her home on Mullett Lake Road where the family will greet friends.

Memorials may be directed to her son, Ralph Bettis at 7973 Mullett Lake Rd., Cheboygan. The Nordman-Christian Funeral Home is caring for the family.
