Phyllis Jean Allen

Jean Allen, 85, of Nampa, made her journey to Heaven on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at a Nampa Care Facility. Viewing will be held on Friday, from 900 am to 945 am at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel (404 10th Ave. So.; Nampa; 466-3545). Funeral Services will follow at 10 am in the Chapel, burial will take place at Middleton Cemetery.

Jean was born on April 17, 1924 in Otis, CO to Oron N. Bettis and Lula B. (Anderson) Bettis. She attended schools in Caldwell. On May 20, 1941 she married Elden L. Allen in Grangeville, ID. Due to Elden's job with the Railroad, it took them many places such as living in Nampa for a number of years before moving to Glenns Ferry from 1960 to 1972. After Glenns Ferry they moved to Pocatello for a brief time before moving back to Nampa. Jean loved to tend her rose garden, paint oil and watercolor, and sew. She was always willing to help others and that was evident in her volunteer time at her Church along with many other things. She started the first Girl Scout troop, taught first aid to children, teachers, and State Police and was a Cub Scout den mother while in Glenns Ferry. After moving back to Nampa she became involved with the Mercy Hospice program which was very special to her heart.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Marcia (Raymond) Smith of Kuna, ID; son, James (Christy) Allen of Kuna, ID; granddaughters, Tessie (Casey) Belieu & Katie Allen of Twin Falls, ID; grandson, Nick Smith of Kuna, ID; sisters, Betty Sanderson, Marian (Clarence) Forrey, and JoAnn Duvall all of Boise, ID; 2 sisters-in-law, Evedean Bettis of Boise and Greta Huitt of Nampa, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elden L. Allen and 6 brothers.

Memorials can be sent to Mercy Hospice (207 W. Georgia Ave; Ste#160B; Nampa, 83686) or Shriners Hospital (1275 Fairfax Rd.; Salt Lake City, UT 84103)
