She was the daughter of Edward and Pearl (Juen) Hass. Shirley married George R. Bethel February 16, 1954 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Shirley was a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling and traveled the world with her husband George. Shirley enjoyed cooking and bird watching. She was a member of the American Legion and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Shirley was of the Catholic Faith. Shirley is survived by husband, George of the home; sons, Alfred J. Scheel of Jack Fork, Oklahoma, George R. Bethel, Jr. of Altamont, Kansas; daughter, Barbara Mirassou and husband Gerald of San Jose, California; Nine grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; brother, Ed Hass, Jr. of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; sister, Lois Johnson and husband Al of Boscobel, Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Betty Hass of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Pearl Hass; a son, Richard Scheel; grandson, Clayton Scheel and a brother, Jerry Hass. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Chaney's Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Jack Hawkins officiating. Burial will be at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.
