Bobbie Lee Best Jr., 63, of Havelock, N.C., formerly of Columbus, Kan., passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at his residence.

Bobbie was born in Cherokee County, Kansas, to Bobbie Lee Sr. and Patsy C Cooper Best.

He served in the Marine Corps for 25 years.

He is survived by one son, Bryan Best of Honolulu, Hawaii; one daughter, Jana Yates of Australia; four sisters, Shirley, Dianna, Cindy, and Sharon, and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Carl Best.

Memorial services with military honors will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Pollock-Best Funeral Chapel, New Bern.

The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests thoughts and prayers.

Another memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Senior Citizen Building in Galena, Kan. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena.
