Mrs. Leotta Snyder Dies At Hospital
Mrs. Leotta B. Snyder, 59, employee of the State Orphans home, died at 1:30 o'clock last night at the Atchison hospital. She was taken to the hospital Sunday about noon after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage at her home, 319 Atchison Street
The body is at the Stanton mortuary. Funeral arrangements are pending word from her son. Warrant Officer (jg) John B. Snyder in Korea. He has been in Korea since May.
Mrs. Snyder, who was the widow of John H. Snyder of the Monrovia community had been employed at the State Home about 18 months on a part time basis. She was receptionist and PBX switchboard operator in the evenings and Sundays.
She suffered with high blood pressure for some time. Although she had not felt well the past week she was able to be at her work.
A daughter of John H. Best and Clara Noffsinger Best, Mrs. Snyder was born on the family farm south of Monrovia. She attended the Monrovia school and the Effingham High School. Part of her girlhood was spent in Oklahoma when her parents lived there.
She was married to Mr. Snyder in November, 1912. at the home of her parents. He died Nov. 22, 1944.
Mrs. Snyder bought the John Spencer residence at 319 Atchison about two years ago. It was formerly the Brockett home.
She was a member of the Methodist church here and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are her daughters Mrs. Roger M. Freeman, 1211 South Fourth; tow sons, Oren G. Snyder, Kansas City, and her son in Korea; two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Groff, Atchison, and Mrs. Hazel Wetzel, Kansas City, and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Snyder was a gracious woman and had many friends. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Leota Snyder at 2 p.m. Friday at the Stanton chapel were largely attended and there were extensive beautiful floral offerings. The Rev. H. J. Sterling officiated and burial was in the Monrovia cemetery. Pallbearers were Clayton Henry, Raymond Foster, Oscar Olson, William Sharp, Clarence Meador and Owen Strine.
