Mrs. Doris M. Roscoe-Best, age 79, passed into God's loving care on Monday, December 12, 2011, at Kent General Hospital. She was born in Dover, Delaware, on February 14, 1932. Doris spent her first 45 years as a resident of Wyoming, Del. She was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, Class of 1950. She married V. William Roscoe Jr. and had three children. Doris was an active member of Wyoming United Methodist Church and sang in the choir for many years. In 1974, she married Harold J. Best and eventually relocated to Statesboro, Georgia. There, she again became active in her church, Statesboro First United Methodist, serving on many committees and singing in the choir. She was honored for her community service with the Deen Day Smith Award. Doris was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served in leadership positions. Doris was a "people person" and made friends wherever she went. Her friendly smile and generous spirit will be missed by them and her family. Doris was preceded by her parents, Cairl and Pauline Richardson; and her loving husband, Harold J. Best.

The funeral service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Cason officiating. Burial will follow in the Clito Baptist Church Cemetery.
