FORT WORTH -- Betty Jo Best, 75, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at a local care center.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Saturday in Arlington Funeral Home Chapel. Burial: Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
Betty was born July 27, 1928, in DeNoya, Okla. She was the third of nine children born in the family of Everett and Ruby Evans in Oklahoma. She moved to Fort Worth in 1956 with her husband, Bill Best, who taught school in the Fort Worth public school system. Betty graduated from Texas Christian University Nursing School as a registered nurse. She worked in several hospitals and for the Fort Worth public school system. Betty was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 756 and Meadowbrook Baptist Church. She loved cooking and making birthday cakes and helping people who had lost loved ones. She loved to make dolls for others. Betty loved to travel and said that she and her husband had visited all but five of the United States. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill A. Best.
Survivors: Sisters, Margaret Schroeder of Seminole, Okla., Grace Hargis and husband, John, of Tulsa, Okla., Lucille Gist and husband, Robert, of Seminole, Okla., and Helen Adams and husband, Windford, also of Seminole; brothers, Glenn Evans and wife, Bertha, of Eunice, N.M., Raymond Evans and wife, Georgia Lee, of Arlington and Junior Evans and wife, Carolyn, of Seminole, Okla; sister-in-law, Betty Gordon; brother-in-law, Howard Best; and several nieces and nephews.
