HILLSVILLE, PA. – Gladys Best, 92, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday morning, Nov. 20, 2011.
Gladys was born in Lawrence County on Aug. 15, 1919, the daughter of the late Lyman and Lillie (Failor) Johnston.
After graduation from high school, Gladys married Theron T. Best and raised four children.
Gladys was a member of the former Edinburgh Methodist Church and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed taking care of her family.
Gladys will be deeply missed by her children, Mrs. Carol Verzilli and her husband, Bob of Bessemer, Pa., Mr. Gerald Best, also of Bessemer and Mr. Ronald Best of Hillsville; three granddaughters, Diana Verzilli, Karen Campbell and Susan Best, all of Bessemer; and two great-grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Lester and Glenn; and a son, Thomas E. Best.
The family will receive friends from 4 p.m until 6 p.m. at the Terry A. Cunningham Funeral Home in Bessemer on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011.
Services will be held directly following the visitation period at 6 p.m. under the direction of the Rev. Russell Shuluga.
Gladys will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery.
