Mr. Charles F. Besecker, 85, of 16505 Virginia Ave., Cottage 284, Williamsport, MD, formerly of Ivy Way, Maugansville, MD and formerly of 204 W. King Street, Waynesboro, PA, died at 7:35 P.M. Monday, December 26, 2005 in the Homewood Nursing Home, Williamsport where he was a guest for less then a day. He was in failing health for the past several years.

Born April 2, 1920 in Greencastle, PA he was the son of the late Warren P. and Esther A. (Koons) Besecker. He lived his early life in Greencastle, and moved to Waynesboro in 1934.

Mr. Besecker graduated from the Waynesboro High School with the class of 1938.

He served in the United States Army during World War II, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.

He and his wife, Mrs. Darce Y. (Yeakle) Hoffman Besecker were married on April 19, 1992. They lived on Ivy Way in Maugansville, MD and moved to the present residence in July 2002.

Mr. Besecker took his apprenticeship at Landis Tool Company in Waynesboro and worked at Landis for 10 years. Prior to retiring in 1982 he was a pattern maker at the Pangborn Corporation in Hagerstown for 32 years.

While living in Waynesboro he was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and after marriage, joined the Maugansville Bible Brethren Church and participated in the Sunshine Heirs Senior Group of the church. He also was a member of the Maugansville Senior Center, national AARP, South Chapter 2977 AARP, Waynesboro, Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 for over 50 years, Waynesboro, and Renfrew Museum and Park, Waynesboro.

Mr. Besecker enjoyed photography, woodworking, collecting ink wells, paper weights, ink pens, antiques and attending yard sales.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one step-daughter, Carolyn H. Bricker, Wellsville, PA, three step-sons, Robert "Bob" Hoffman, Mercersburg, PA, Rev. John C. Hoffman, Greencastle, Ronald L. Hoffman, Camp Hill, PA, 10 step-grandchildren, 20 step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-granddaughter.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 30, 2005 in Maugansville Bible Brethren Church, 17409 Binkley Ave., Maugansville, MD with Pastor John C. Hoffman and Pastor J. Sean Coffey officiating. Family will receive friends following the services on Friday, in the church.

Private burial services will be held at the convenience of the family in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
