Goldie L.M. Berven, daughter of Mabel Lee Berven and Edmund Alexander Berven was born January 21, 1909 on a homestead near Baltic, South Dakota.

She graduated from Colton, South Dakota high school, and was a member of the first class of the Sioux Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1930. She served as the college nurse at Augustana College in Sioux Falls. She later served as a special duty nurse.

She was united in marriage with Merle Gray at the Berven home in Baltic, South Dakota on October 13, 1935.

Goldie was a member of the Springdale Lutheran Church Dorcas Society, the Mary Circle ALCW at Springdale and the Gertrude Nurses and the South Dakota nurses association.

The "coronation service" was at Springdale Lutheran with the Rev. Walter H. Evenson officiating, Mrs. Leonard Welter was the organist and Mrs. Walter H. Evenson was the vocalist. Congregational hymns were "Jesus Priceless Treasure and "In The Cross of Christ I glory."

Family members are husband Merle, Rev. Dennis Gray, Mary Gray Weeg and Charles Gray.
