Word has been received from the commanding general that the body of Pfc. Charles E. Bertram will arrive in Muncie Friday.
A brother, Chief Warrant Officer Riley A. Bertram, who is stationed at the U.S. Navy Base in San Diego, will serve as escort.
Funeral services will be held at the Meeks Mortuary at 1:30 p.m. Monday with the Reverend O.D. Sprunger of the Whitely Mission in charge. Burial will be in the American Legion plot at Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after noon Saturday, at the residence of the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dee Bertram, 1525 E. Kirk St., after 2 p.m. Sunday, or again at the mortuary after noon Monday.
Pfc. Bertram was killed in Korea on May 17, 1951. At the time of his death, he was awaiting return on rotation to the states.
Surviving with his parents are two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Neese of Muncie and Mrs. Margaret Jaynes, of Norfolk, Va.; four half sisters, Mrs. Bertha Smith, Mrs. Lora Jackson, and Mrs. Sabra Stout, all of Muncie, and Mrs. Janie Sims, Portland, Ore.; three brothers, Jim, Jerry and Johnny Bertram.
