Son of Joseph Austin "Joe A." Upchurch Bertram and Nona Heath Bertram.
Muncie - Reverend Charles Estel Bertram got to see what heaven is really like on August 13, 2010, he was 81. ~ He was born May 10, 1929, in Forbes [Forbus], Tennessee to Joe and Nona Bertram. Charlie was the fifth of ten children.
He is survived by his sister, Sue Yarborough (husband-Bobby); daughter, Nona Garringer, (husband-Rodney); sons, Charles W. Bertram and Leslie A. Bertram (wife-Karen); seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Charlie was an extraordinary man. He was a giving man who never met a stranger. He began as a musician for a local band, served in the United States Army during the Japanese Occupation and the Korean War, was in law enforcement, and served the Lord as a Nazarene minister for over 36 years spending the last 22 at Forest Park Nazarene Church. He was a foster parent and also a CASA representative. Charlie was a kind, chatty, giving man who was unconditionally loved by his family. The Lord gave the world a wonderful gift when He created Charlie, and answered his prayers when He reunited him with his beloved Joan.
Like the sands of time you will forever run
Gently through our loving hearts.
Forever blessed are the gates of heaven
When they called you to your home.
Reunited you are with angels you lost
The wife you always adored.
We will forever love you and miss you so much
Until reunited with you.
We'll see you then with the wings you have worn
Concealed within your heart.
