Mary Ann Wilson's parents were Joseph Wilson (born circa 1815 in N. C.) and Celia Edwards (born circa 1819 in N. C.).
She married Samuel Ward Berry at Gadsden, AL on 12 June 1863 while he was on wounded leave while serving the Confederacy during the "War Between the States". Samuel returned to duty shortly after his marriage.
Post-war by 1870, Samuel had his own farm adjacent to his father's in Collinsville, DeKalb Co., AL. By 1880 he had moved to Play Ball and Turkeytown, Etowah Co., Al and was a miller/farmer until his death in 1901.
In 1920 "Mollie" Berry, 72 years old, was living in Town Creek, Lawrence Co., AL in the household of her son-in-law, Rev. Samuel Lee Prickett, who was a widower with 6 young children under 14 years old.
Samuel Ward Berry died in 1901 and Mary A. Berry, his widow, applied for his Civil War pension on 02 Apr 1925. She died on 23 Feb 1937 at Gadsden, Etowah Co., AL at the ripe old age of 91 and is buried near him.
