Altoona Mirror March 3, 2023∼Janice E. Berry, 97, formerly of Duncansville, passed away Monday at Homewood at Martinsburg, surrounded by loving family members. She was born in Avonmore, daughter of the late Martin John Faulk and Elizabeth Verna (Kunkle) Smith.

Jan was the last surviving sibling of 10 children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; her sons, Greg and Martin; brothers: Darwin, Chalfant, Thomas "Bus," James and Martin Jr.; and sisters: Lois Hamlin, Muriel Hatton, Loretta Berry and Audrey Tuggle.
Janice, better known as "Jan," was first a homemaker, then a nurse's aide at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md., and later went to Altoona Hospital until she retired.
She was a passionate card player (rummy), an avid bowler and had a great love of dogs and classical music. Jan had a vibrant personality and passed her strong sense of character, love of life, animals, travel and the beach to several more generations.
Prior to her relocation to Homewood, she was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Hollidaysburg.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in The Presbyterian Cemetery of Hollidaysburg. Arrangements are by Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg. In memory of Janice and her love of animals, donations can be made to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602; or a rescue of your choice. In her honor, be kind and pay it forward — "Smile and the world smiles with you."
