Dolores Irene Berry, a retired Nurse Administrator at the Middletown Letchworth Unit and a lifelong area resident, entered into rest on Monday, February 16, 2009 at her home in Middletown. She was 84 years old.

The daughter of the late Edward C. and Geraldine Wright Witt, she was born January 24, 1925 in Middletown, NY.

She was the wife of Harold C. Berry, who predeceased her in November of 1992.

Dolores was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Middletown. She was a graduate of Middletown High School, Middletown State Hospital School of Nursing and Fordham University. She was also in the Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. She worked as a staff nurse until she took time off to raise a family. She returned to her profession in 1973 to work in the Letchworth Village Unit and soon became the evening supervisor.

A family statement reads: "Our mother appreciated the simpler things in life, especially enjoying time with friends and family. She always thought of others with her many acts of kindness. Her love for her family held no bounds. She offered strength, guidance, wisdom and always love and kindness. Our mother was a role model for her family, and for so many others whose lives she touched."

Her survivors include: her beloved daughters, Linda Boyce & her husband, Richard of Middletown and Barbara Daria & her husband, Patrick of Bloomingburg, NY; beloved granddaughter, Jennifer Novak & her husband, Christopher of Middletown, NY; grandson, Richard Boyce Jr. of Middletown, NY; two brothers, Robert Witt of Cabin John, MD and Daniel Witt of Cuddebackville, NY; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Harold, Dolores was predeceased by her brother, Edward C. Witt Jr. and sister, Marilyn Morris.

There will be no public visitation. Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell Funeral Home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY. The Rev. Peter A. Rustico will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery, Bloomingburg, NY.
