Son of Lewis Berry 1773-1847 and Agnes Rash 1777-1845.
Married Eleanor "Ellen" Strode 29 November 1821 in Clark County KY. Moved to Henry County in March 1824 During the great revival Edwin & Ellen Berry were baptized by Jeremiah Vardeman and joined the Newcastle Baptist Church.
He became a deacon in 1834 and ordained as a minister in September 1835. He was pastor at LaGrange Baptist Church for 26 years. He had an excellent voice for singing and his sermons were very scriptural.
He preached at times all over western and northern Henry and Shelby Counties. According to obituaries published in Knox County Missouri, Edwin and Ellen made two trips, probably by steamboat in the 1850s to sons in Missouri, baptised converts in revival meetings and Ellen was midwife to the birth of a child of James S. Berry in Knox County MO.
In 1842 Rev. Edwin Berry was elected Moderator of the Sulphur Fork Baptist Association, serving until 1882.
