Jessie (Berruti) Latinka, 104, of Danbury, Connecticut passed away on October 8, 2011 at Hancock Hall with her family at her side. She was the beloved mother of Helen Miller, Barbara Cordio and Joseph Latinka. She was born in London, England on May 24, 1907 the daughter of Joseph and Jessie Berruti. When she was five years old she and her family moved to the United States and settled in San Francisco and Fresno, California, where she spent her childhood. In 1929 she moved to New York City where she met her husband Joseph and had three children. In 1954 she moved to Danbury, Connecticut and began working at the Reader's Digest in Pleasantville, New York. Where she retired after twenty one years of service. After retiring she volunteered in the library of Danbury Hospital for 20 years, the Red Cross and Saint James Food Pantry (Our Daily Bread) for ten years each. At age eighty five she finally retired to spend time with her family. She was one of the founding members of the old St Joseph Senior Center, she also was a member of St Peters, Danbury Senior Center, and AARP. She loved to travel, read and listening to books on tape and be with her family. She will be missed by her eight grandchildren, thirteen great grand children and seven great great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church in Danbury on Thursday 10:00am October 13, 2011 Interment will follow at St Peter Cemetery. Family and Friends may call at Green Funeral Home 57 Main Street in Danbury on Wednesday October 12, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00.
