Gene was born in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war he married his late wife, Anne. They were married for 55 years. He received a degree in Industrial Engineering from Geneva College in Pennsylvania. He worked with Chemstrand in Decatur, Alabama and Monsanto Europe before moving to Pensacola. He was the Superintendent 6f Services at Monsanto and retired in 1982 after 28 years.
He loved traveling, ocean liners, fishing, and playing golf active in many charitable organizations, and was a member of St. Sylvester's Catholic Church in Gulf Breeze.
Gene is survived by daughter Marianne Lavergne (Ed); sons, Mark (Patricia) and Thomas Berrigan; and grandchildren; Michelle and Megan Berrigan, Christopher and Emily Lavergne and Colin Berrigan, and brother, Robert Berrigan.
