A native of Rains Co., Mrs. Bernays entered the real estate business in 1947; three years after her first husband, Lynn Hair, a pilot, was killed in World War II. In 1850, she started her own business, Lois Hair Real Estate. Eight years later, she married a real estate competitor, and they opened Hair-Bernays Realtors. Mrs. Bernays was named national president of the Women's Council of the National Association of Real Estate Boards in 1964. She served as president of the Dallas chapter in 1960 when its membership increased to 125, the largest in the nation. She had been a member of the Dallas Board of Realtors since 1952 and was a member of the Multiple Listing Service Organizational Committee in 1953. In 1971, she served as director of the Texas Association of the Make America Better Committee. See obituary for survivors.
