He was born in Niles on June 8, 1937 the son of Anthony and Mary (Pallante) Bernard and lived most of his life in this community.
A graduate of Niles McKinley High School and Kent State University, he honorably served in the United States Army. He retired as a small engine repair teacher at the Maplewood Joint Vocational School in Ravenna. He and his father were owners of Niles Lawn Mower and in recent years he was self-employed as a landscaper and snowplower. He enjoyed hunting, boating, fishing and most of all he loved and cherished the time spent with his granddaughter.
Donald is survived by a son, Donald Richard (Hollie) Bernard Jr. of Niles; granddaughter, Zoie Bernard and aunt, Margaret Pallante of Niles.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Martha Bernard.
Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery.
