Betty Marie Berkstresser, 87, formerly of 421 E. Crawford Ave., Altoona, went home to be with the Lord Sunday evening at her daughter's residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Lester and Margaret (Reed) Fink. She married Ralph Monroe Berkstresser on Sept. 26, 1942, at Third Presbyterian Church, Altoona, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 2006.

Surviving are a daughter, Gladys Miller, and husband, Daniel, of Altoona; a grandson, Robert Miller; three great-grandchildren: Chelsie, Danyelle and Tyler; a great-great-grandson, Jordin; and a niece, Sandra Hirt, and a nephew, Robert Conrad, both of Altoona.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel; two sisters; and a brother. She was the last member of her immediate family.

Betty was a life member of Third Presbyterian Church, Altoona. She retired as a meat wrapper from Riverside Market in 1975 after 13 years of service.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011, the Rev. Kathy D. Colebank officiating. Interment will be made at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
