On April 6, 1878, Annchen Martens was born to Jurgen Friedrich Martens and Ebkelina Gruben Martens in Wilkelshaven (sic), Germany.
On March 30th, 1908, she was united in marriage to Fritz Paul Bergman. To this union a son, Fredo, was born in March 1909.
In 1910 the family emigrated to the United States. In 1911 a daughter Marianne was born while residing in Texas.
The family moved to the community of Nelson (Nuckolls County) Nebraska in 1912 and since that time have resided in this community. As of this time Mrs. Bergman was the oldest member of the Salem Lutheran Church of Superior, Nebraska.
Mrs. Bergman has been in failing health for the past four years. She succumbed May 22, 1964 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 86 years.
During her marriage she has been a wonderful help-mate to her husband, a kind mother, a merry companion and a Christian guide to her children.
Annchen Bergman leaves to mourn, her husband Fritz, a son Fredo Bergman of Nelson, Nebraska, and a daughter Marianne Patton of Buena Vista, Colorado. She also leaves a granddaughter, Sharon Bergman Meyer of Nelson, Nebraska, a grandson Robert Bergman attending the University of Nebraska, Marion Patton and Sharyle Patton attending Reed College at Portland, Oregon, three great granddaughters, Tammy, Darcy and Christy Jo all daughters of Mrs. Sharon Meyer.
Mrs. Bergman also leaves three sisters: Mrs. Louise Teents of Yorktown, Iowa, Clara Kromminga of Vancover (sic), Washington, Frieda Janssen of Germany, and one brother Edward Martens of Germany.
Services were held Monday, May 25 at the Salem Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Kenyon officiating.
Casket bearers were Charley Frahm, Everett Meyer, Rudy Gebers, Ernest Schiermeyer, Herman Schiermeyer and Fred Schiermeyer. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery with the Klawitter Funeral Home in charge.
