Louise Margaret (nee Anderson) Bergman, age 72, formerly of Aurora, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at her home in Dayton, Ohio. She was born June 19, 1929, in Geneva, IL., and resided in Dayton for most of her life. She graduated from Madonna High School, in Aurora in 1947, and attended Sinclair Community College. She was a dental assistant, homemaker and active volunteer in countless community and church efforts. She helped establish St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Parish of Valley Forge, PA, in 1969. She was instrumental in the founding of Progress Place and co-founder of PLACES, Inc., both of Dayton in the 1970's. Louise was a champion of persons with mental illness and she touched the lives of many in need through a variety of advocacy efforts.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Edward Anderson of Aurora, IL., and her daughter, Julie Clare Bergman of Dayton.
She is survived by her mother, Evelyn Louise (nee DePauw) Anderson of Aurora; her husband of 47 years, Everett Jerome Bergman of Dayton; Dr. Steven (Dr. Mary) Bergman of Dallas, Texas; Beth (Dr. H. Michael) Duke; Kristen Bergman and Keed; Lisa (Tom) Dineen, all of Dayton; Brian (Dr. Lora) Reif-Bergman of Seattle, WA; her brother Ronald (Linda) Anderson of Aurora; her sister Jan (Tom) Howland of Aurora; brother-in-law Ronald (Mary Ann) Bergman; sister-in-law, Dorothy Couvion; grandchildren: Nicholas and Jonathan Wells, Dietrich and Seth Duke, Allison and Caitlin Bergman, and Emily and Annie Duke, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
