Dorothy B. Anderson, 94, died peacefully on Aug. 12, 2013, in Klamath Falls with family and friends at her side.
Dorothy was born on Jan. 5, 1919, (she always believed that it was Jan. 4, 1919) in Bay Point (now Port Chicago), Calif., to John Mauritz and Alma Marie Berglund. She was the youngest of their three children.
The family moved to Klamath Falls in January 1920. She attended Central and Fremont schools, graduating from Klamath Union High School in 1936.
For four years, she was employed as secretary for Klamath Theaters Inc. with the office on the third floor of the Pelican Theater.
She married Oscar W. Anderson in April 1940, and a year later they moved into the house her father built, where she resided until her passing.
In 1959, she was employed by the city school district office and later as a receptionist for Dr. LeVernois, retiring in 1982.
Dorothy was a volunteer at the Baldwin Hotel Museum and active in the Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, PTA, Klamath Art Association, Klamath County Historical Society, Klamath Lutheran Church and Swedish Lodge Vasa.
As an accomplished weaver and spinner, she enjoyed sharing her knowledge, providing spinning and weaving demonstrations, and was known for her coverlets, Christmas cards, and other textiles she created.
Survivors include her daughter, Stina Forney (John) of Vancouver, Wash.; son, Robert of Klamath Falls; grandchildren Frank Forney (Adriana) of San Francisco, Calif., Beth Blair (Dick) of Portland, and Cathy Golberg (Peder) of Vancouver; and great-grandchildren Toresen and Oscar Golberg of Vancouver, Chelsea and Taylor Blair of Portland, and Jack, Cooper, Malena and Paloma Forney of San Francisco.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Oscar; her son, David; her brother, Oscar Berglund; and her sister, Esther Fagrell.
