Marion I. Anderson, 93, Minot, formerly of Makoti, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at Trinity Homes in Minot.
Marion Irene Bergeson was born Oct. 9, 1917, in Plaza, to Peter and Carrie (Olson) Bergeson. She was baptized and confirmed in Hope Lutheran Church in Makoti. She was raised on a farm northeast of Makoti and attended Makoti schools.
Marion married Harold A. Anderson Nov. 25, 1935, in Minot. They farmed near Makoti until moving to Minot in 1950. She was a part-time employee at Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. for many years as well as Elite Studios and Slorby's Photography in Minot. Later, she worked in the Green Thumb Program at Milton Young Towers until her retirement at age 70. Harold passed away May 10, 1996.
Harold and Marion were longtime members of the Minot Moose Lodge. They enjoyed dancing and won trophies at polka dance contests at the Norsk Hostfest. Marion was also a member of the Minot Eagles Auxiliary, volunteered with the Minot Senior Citizens, and was involved with the Parker Senior Center. She had been a member of Zion Lutheran Church since 1950.
Surviving family includes: children, Ardiss Edwards, Delavan, Wis., Marjorie (Ray) Loften, Coon Rapids, Minn., Dale (Carolyn) Anderson of Chandler, Ariz., Larry (Tiziana) Anderson of Kent, Wash., Karen (Don) Snowden-Jones, Bellevue, Wash.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Peterson, Minot; brother, Melvyn (Lucile) Bergeson, Minot; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; son, Floyd; sister, Gladys Peterson; and brothers, Leonard Olson and Lyle Bergeson.
Funeral: Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
